Celebrating Patsy Cline - The Woman

What is the Brick-a-thon Campaign?
You can make a difference and help restore the childhood home of Patsy Cline. Isn’t it time for Winchester’s own world-famous icon to be recognized in her home town? Think of the benefits to our community from increased tourism and recognition. Please help make this dream a reality and purchase a commemorative brick for the sidewalk in front of the house. Your brick will serve as a lasting reminder of your support for the Historic House. Each brick will be engraved with a name of your choosing. It will be a permanent part of the outdoor landscape. Contact CPC for more details.

What has been accomplished to date on the museum project?
Ralph Appelbaum Associates (RAA), a world-renowned museum design firm and exhibition designers for the acclaimed Country Music Hall of Fame and the U.S. Holocaust Museum, has completed the first phase of its development, a visualized concept study. Having Ralph Appelbaum Associates onboard is another tribute to the tremendous vision, courage, and character of Patsy Cline and the success of CPC in attracting world-renowned talent. While presenting Patsy’s musical legacy to worldwide audiences through opening of the Patsy Cline Historic House, Celebrating Patsy Cline will continue to actively collect and preserve her music, memories, and memorabilia for the future Patsy Cline Museum.

What are the plans for opening 608 S. Kent Street -- the family home?
Celebrating Patsy Cline will restore and interpret the 608 Kent Street home as a Historic House to focus on Patsy Cline and her family during the years between 1948 to 1957. At the core of a phased Patsy Cline presence in Winchester, the Kent Street family home will play witness of the story of Patsy’s Winchester years, the lives of others associated with her, and events that were pivotal to her career. The House stands as an important destination for Patsy Cline fans and admirers hoping to know "first hand" the story of Patsy's early years. This House is already recognized throughout the world as a significant monument along the Patsy Cline pilgrimage. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Virginia Landmarks Register. Celebrating Patsy Cline is presently raising funds to restore and interpret the House and its grounds so it can be opened for public tours and special events. Current fund raising efforts include the Brick-a-thon Campaign. Contact CPC by email or phone for details.

How is the collection of Patsy’s personal items being conserved?
The most significant object in the collection is Patsy’s home, located at 608 South Kent Street in Winchester. CPC is currently working to restore the historic house and open it to the public for tours and special events. The remainder of the collection is stored in climate-controlled conditions until it can be placed in the future museum for viewing. To have proper insurance on the collection, CPC has hired a qualified museum curator to make an appraisal. We are also in constant conversation with family members and other individuals concerning items that can be purchased or placed on loan. Past fund-raising activities and donations have been used to purchase these items as needed. The majority of them will be exhibited in the museum consistent with professional museum standards.

What is the difference between Celebrating Patsy Cline and the Always Patsy Cline Fan Club?
The mission of Celebrating Patsy Cline, Inc., is to preserve and perpetuate the legacy of Patsy Cline and her music. CPC collects and preserves personal objects, costumes, and memorabilia for display when the museum opens. The Patsy Cline Museum is being designed to create a place where many people can discover Patsy Cline and her music by celebrating her legacy, her culture, and her community. The Always Patsy Cline Fan Club mission is to unite Patsy Cline fans. It is a membership organization with members from all over the world. The Always Patsy Cline Fan Club traditionally meets once a year on Labor Day weekend, which coincides with the anniversary of Patsy Cline's birthday. The organization holds various functions during the annual gathering that are exclusive to organization members.
